Government has denied reports that it has withdrawn police officers and other security personnel from the CAP 30 pension scheme.
The CAP 30 pension scheme is a non-contributory pension scheme instituted in 1950 under the Pensions Ordinance, No. 42 of Chapter 30 for civil servants in the service before 1972.
The denial comes after some media outlets reported that the pension scheme has been withdrawn.
In a statement copied to Joy News’ Deputy Information Minister, Pius Hadzide said “the false story is aimed at courting disaffection for government among the country’s gallant men and women in uniform.
“Government by this release reiterates its position that it has not and does not intend to withdraw CAP 30 Pension Scheme or any pension scheme of any of the country’s security services. Government will not make any changes that will make the police or any security personnel worse off while serving or on retirement,” the statement added.
