Government has provided adequate financial resources for the smooth take off of the 46 newly created assemblies from the District Assemblies Common Fund.A seed capital of one million Ghana cedis has been allotted to all the newly created District Assemblies for their infrastructural development as well as four million cedis set aside to enable them start their developmental projects.Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah announced this during his visit to some of the newly created districts at Pusiga, Binduri, Builsa and Nabdam in the Upper West Region and thereafter Nandom and Daffiama Bussie Issa in the Upper West Region."The processes and Legislative Instruments leading to the inauguration of the 46 newly created District Assemblies across the country have been established and would be inaugurated on the 28 of this month", he reiterated.In his observation, he pointed out that decentralization is essential for development and appealed to chiefs and people of these two regions to co-operate with the newly created assembly to ensure a successful and peaceful running of the assemblies.He called on traditional and opinion leaders to help the new assemblies, adding that this will positively affect development and other activities carried out in the region for the benefit of the people.He further explained that the creation of the district is to create a platform for the people in the region to better understand and appreciate the governance system so as to take active part in decision making to ensure good governance at the grass root level.Mr. Afriyie Ankra said the government would continue to support the new districts both financially and logistically to enhance speedy development.In his remarks, the Bawku Naba, Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, commended government for creating more districts which he noted would accelerate the development of the area.He appealed to government to work on the roads that were in deplorable states and provide the people with irrigation dams that would encourage farming and sustain the incomes of the youth in the area.In his response, Member of Parliament for Garu Timpane, Dominic Azumah said the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) was carefully introduced by the government to bring hope to the people of Northern Ghana, adding that government handed over 100 farm tractors to farmers to support their farming activities.He said this project will also help to realize northern sector agriculture development dream set by the government and this would benefit about 16,000 farmers within the SADA operational zone
