Deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams, has said government will not react to recent claims by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of conspiracy with the United Progressive Party (UPP).
According to him, the government is very focused on delivering on its 2012 promises made to Ghanaians adding it has no time to wade in unnecessary debates with the NPP.
Mr. Adams was speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story, in reaction to claims by the NPP that government is sponsoring the founder of UPP, Kwesi Addai Odike.
At a press conference organized by the NPP Tuesday, Communication Director, Nana Akomea lambasted government for the misuse of taxpayers money in unprofitable venture.
Nana Akomea claims the government was behind the new blue, black, red and white colors of the UPP which bear semblance to the colors used by the NPP.

“Why will a new political party choose colors close to an existing party thereby confusing followers of the two parties,” he said.
However, Mr Adams said if “we [government officials] had money today, it would be used to sponsor the parties youth wings and grassroots branches.”
He added that if government has unused monies lying somewhere as the NPP claims, they will be spent on addressing the challenges the country is facing.
“It is only a political party that is not serious that will think about going to spend money to get another party established and to be sponsoring it,” he said.
He also stressed it takes another political party that lacks vision and which is not serious to accuse another of engaging in such frivolous ventures as sponsoring another party.
Reacting to the NPP press conference, Mr. Odike discredited the claims the NPP that government is sponsoring him arguing he has not seen the NDC General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia for some years.
He disclosed he is opened to dialogue with the leadership of the NPP if its leaders are interested in resolving the current challenge with his party.
