Samartex edged closer to a first-ever Ghana Premier League title with a win over Berekum Chelsea over the weekend.
The Timber Giants claimed all three points at home against Samuel Boadu's side as they recorded a 3-2 scoreline.
A first-half brace by Evans Osei-Wusu gave Nurudeen Amadu's side a comfortable lead. The former Tema Youth forward opened the scoring in the 35th minute of the game before adding his second on the stroke of halftime.
Stephen Amankona halved the deficit for the visiting team after 72 minutes played but Samartex's two-goal lead was restored almost immediately with Baba Hamadu Musa netting the third.
Amankona was on hand again to score for Chelsea but his efforts could only reduce the scoreline as Samartex won the game.
Elsewhere, Nsoatreman and Great Olympics settled for a point each in a 1-1 game.
Aduana Football Club bounced back to winning ways as they claimed a 1-0 victory over relegation-battling Heart of Lions.
Second-placed Nations Football Club were held to a 2-2 draw by Bofoakwa Tano while Bechem United clinched the maximum points against Legon Cities.
The results from the weekend keep Samartex at the top, extending their lead over Nations FC to five.
Despite the draw, Bofoakwa continue to stay in the relegation zone alongside Heart of Lions and RTU.
