The Commissioner, Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Col Kwadwo Damoah, says the Authority is trailing in achieving the 2021 revenue target.

He, therefore, implored some 287 newly commissioned customs officers to diligently discharge their duties to complement achieve the ¢60 billion annual target. 

Speaking at the passing out ceremony of the cadets in the Volta Region on Tuesday, he said, “We are supposed to collect at least ¢60 billion this year. We are trailing, the Customs Division is trailing, the entire GRA is trailing”, he said.

“We have no time to spare and you are not going to have the luxury of having more free days. Therefore, on November 8, all of you are reporting to your units to go and help in these last-minute efforts to collect every possible pesewa so that we can possibly achieve archive our targets” he charged the newly commissioned officers. 

He expressed confidence in the officers and urged them to accept postings to any division unit and harness all opportunities available to develop themselves in the service to fit in. 

Col Damoah tasked the officers “to imbibe the principles of professionalism” while endeavoring to become versatile officers who can perform any duty assigned. 

The 287 senior and junior cadets who form the Course Magazine 01/02 2021 received training in physical training, military drills, weapon handling, custom courses, among others. 

Seven Senior Cadets were awarded for their distinguished performance during the training with Ernest Frimpong Opoku adjudged the overall best trainee for course 01/2021.

Junior Cadet Michael Eshun was awarded the overall best trainee for course 02/2021. Six other junior cadets were also awarded. 

The senior cadets were conferred Assistant Revenue Officers status.
