The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) says its staff are working round the clock to complete substantive figures for the 5th population and housing census conducted in September 2010.Speaking in an interview with Adom News, Head of Sales and Publicity at the Service, Mr. David Combat said all is being done to ensure that the figures are released on time.In February 2011, the GSS then headed by Dr. Grace Bediako released provisional results which were later criticized by sections of the public as unrealistic.Mrs. Bediako explained that those figures were only provisional and that they were released to aid policy makers, businesses and other interest bodies to have a fair idea of the population and trends.Mr. David Combat did not specify exactly when the figures would be published, he said the GSS was working round the clock to release the figures soon. “What we are doing now is scanning the data that we have and we assure Ghanaians that we are working 24 hours and when we are done we will bring the results to the public domain.”
