Guinness Ghana Ltd,the Black Stars' longest serving sponsor, continues to rally support for the senior national football team.
With just under two weeks remaining to kick off the World Cup finals in South Africa, the official beverage sponsor of the team drew hundreds of enthusiastic and loyal supporters to the Accra International Trade Fair Centre for a night of music, funfair and patriotism.
Joy FM's powerful squad including Bola Ray, Nii Ayi Tagoe and DJ Black and Nathaniel Attoh cranked up the atmosphere with hot music to keep the fans on their toes throughout the night in a unique stadium-like packed atmosphere.
In attendance were the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon Nii Nortey Dua, Guinness Ghana Marketing Director Ama Okyere and Guinness Ghana MD Ekwunife Okoli. As part of their package for the Black Stars World Cup campaign, Guinness Ghana has already presented a package worth GH¢115,000 to the team. Ghanaians have been promised nothing but the best from the outfit and urged to support the Black Stars by patronizing the Guinness One Chant Song as well as nationwide supporters rewards activations in bars and special fans zones.
The highlight of the evening was the symbolic signing of a giant Ghana flag by the dignitaries and other functionaries including Guinness managers Ebenezer Akyeampong, Kwaku Sakyi-Khan, Kwamena Budu and sales director Jojo Bonney.
On the night, award winning hip-life rap star Sarkodie, Nana Boro and Kwaw Kesse also penned their signatures followed by VIP, Eazy, R2B and the sensational new talent Twee Gedo.
The flag signing forms part of the National Flag Tour which according to tour organisers is aimed at uniting Ghanaians before, during and after SA 2010. The 2010 National Flag Tour will journey through the country with the flag of Ghana and a goodwill book to collect signatures, thumbprints and messages from Ghanaians to be presented to the Black Stars in South Africa on Thursday June 10th 2010. The tour is supported by the Ghana Football Association, Ministry of Youth and Sports and National Sports Council.
Ultimately the flag and goodwill book will be presented to the Black Stars at their team hotel in Pretoria on the eve of the football fiesta. The flag tour is expected to climax next week with a final road show at the Osu Oford Street.
Meanwhile there is excitement in South Africa ahead of the Ghana team and Ghana flag's arrival. The South African based Ghana United Supporters Union (GUSU) will receive the flag from their Ghanaian counterparts, the Nationwide Supporters Union (NSU), at their headquarters in Johannesburg South Africa from NSU and other tour partners.
