The District Chief Executive for Gushegu, Alhaji Alhassan Fuseini has lost his 8 year old daughter after fire burnt his private residence at Nobisco in the Northern Region.
Alhaji Fuseini told JOYNEWS, the fire started around 11pm when he was about going to bed.
“I heard the cry of my children only to come out and see smoke all over their room”.
Four children were trapped after smoke engulfed the house last night. He says his first instinct was to save his children.
Three found their way out but billows of smoke impeded rescue efforts of the fourth whose name was only given as Fuseina. Her location was difficult to determine and she lost her way in the blaze.
“We attempted [to go in] but because of the electrical gadgets we could not venture in there so we just looked on and the small girl perished”, the DCE explained.
Alhaji Fuseini says it is not known what caused the fire.
