Asamoah Gyan returned to match action on Saturday and scored for Rennes in their 1-2 defeat to Olympique Lyon in the Ligue 1.
The Ghana striker was passed fit after suffering a knee injury last week and had an immediate impact when he put Rennes in the lead after 15 minutes.
But Lyon got the equaliser through Michel Fernandes Bastos after the break with the winner Lisandro López in the 61st minute.
Gyan's goal was his 13th this season.
