Asamoah Gyan will be checked up on Monday to assess the thigh injury picked up during a Ligue 1 game over the weekend.
The injury is the latest blow to a great season for the Ghana and Rennes striker having scored 13 goals so far and remains Ligue 1's third joint top scorer.
Gyan, 22, was taken off during Saturday's league game against Lorient in the Ligue 1 and confirmed to the BBC Sport that he will undergo further tests on Monday to assess the problem.
"I will have a scan on my thigh on Monday before I can tell what is exactly wrong with it," Gyan said.
"I desperately want to play to help my club Rennes before the season ends. I don't think I will be out for long.
"I hope the doctors can get to the bottom of the issue so that I can make a quick recovery."
