Hard work awaits us – Bawumia tells NPP

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says he is grateful to the New Patriotic Party and delegates who voted massively for him in Saturday's super delegates conference.

Addressing a crowd at the party headquarters, he noted however that the successful delegates conference is not the end of the task but that there is more to be done as the party prepares for the national delegates conference in November.

“I want us to remember that the hard work is still ahead of us. We will have to win November 4, by the grace of God we will, and then win December 7, 2024. I am very grateful to all of you. You have done so much work, God bless all of you. I am most grateful,” Dr Bawumia said.

Dr Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Alan Kyerematen and Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto emerged the top four at the just-ended super delegates conference aimed at electing five finalists for the party’s national primaries to decide who becomes the party's presidential candidate.

Francis Addai Nimo and Boakye Agyarko tied at the fifth place.

Dr Bawumia urged the party to remain united as the battle for the flagbearer draws near.

He explained that the conference is only an internal battle and thus the party must present a united front during the 2024 elections.

"The main event for all of us in the party is December 2024... As we all work together in this party going through these processes, we all have to keep in mind that what we are all working towards is a win in December 2024 for the NPP - therefore to break the eight in 2024. This will require a lot of unity among ourselves as a party."

“Let us remain very conscious that we have to keep this party together. All my colleagues who contested, everybody did well, we have to bring everybody together. As we celebrate lest mind our words, and let's keep this party together,” he added.
