A hardened criminal, Johson Kombia alias “boga” who broke jail in 2005 and is standing trial for robbery and attempted murder had escaped once again from the Tamale Regional Prisons at about 0400 hours on Friday.
Kombia was chained on the leg and was kept in a separate cell where he is serving a five-year jail term.
When the Ghana News Agency visited the premises, the Northern Regional Prisons Command refused to comment on the issue, while the Deputy Director of Prisons Philip Laari was holding emergency meeting the with the personnel.
The Regional Police Command confirmed the story and said investigation was on-going.
Johnson Kombia was arrested for terrorising people living around Walawale, Gambaga, Nalerigu and Bunkpurugu and was arrested on August last year.
