Accra Hearts of Oak were beaten 0-3 by Al Ahly Tripoli in an international friendly at the 80,000 capacity Tripoli International Sports Stadium
Ahly Tripoli scored twice in the first half and added one in the second half to seal the doom of Hearts of Oak.
Despite Coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi admonishing the playing body to fight above themselves to keep the reputation of the club intact, his side couldn’t stand the might of the home side as they were handed a 0-3 humiliating scoreline.
The second game between Hearts of Oak and Ahly Tripoli will be played on Friday at the same venue.
The Phobians named a squad made up of both new and old players gave a good account of themselves in the opening exchanges but failed to utilize the many chances that came their way in terms of goalscoring.
The deadlock was however broken in the 31st minute when Al Ahly scored the first goal of the game.
The Phobians then took charge of the game and dictated the pace, and for a while looked like grabbing the equalizer, but again, poor shooting let them down.
Lack of concentration on the part of the Phobians saw them concede the 2nd goal right on the stroke of halftime as Ali Amado slotted home to end the first half 2-0 in favor of the hosts.
Back from recess, Hearts coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi made a couple of changes to his side, but that failed to change anything in terms of goalscoring for the Phobians.
The doom was finally sealed in the 50th minute when Al Ahly scored the 3rd goal of the game
The Japanese coach is struggling to get the results for the Phobians, losing to WAFA 1-4 in another pre-season game two weeks ago and seems finding it difficult to get his regular starters.
Hearts of Oak XI : Soulama Abdoulaye – Owusu Bempah, Justice Anane, John Abadioo, Gnagne – Leonard Tawiah, Razak Patrick, Mustapha Essuman - Foovi Aguidi, Daniel Boateng, Prince Boadu.
