Once again students at Ghana International School had much to celebrate when a phenomenal number of them achieved exceptional results at IGCSE level and GCE A-level. This year, 32 students were awarded at least one A-star grade in their IGCSE exams, with nineteen of the students walking away with at least eight A-star grades and A grades. A total of nine students achieved a straight set of A grades in eight to ten subjects. Students taking their GCE A-level exams had a lot to smile about too. Twenty-three students achieved at least one A-star or A grade in their exams. Two students were each awarded A-star grades in three subjects with one student awarded a full scholarship worth USD$57,000 to America’s prestigious Yale University thanks to his A-level success. Eighty-five per cent of A-level students passed all their exams. The GIS Upper Secondary School Vice-Principal, Mr David Arku said the number of A-star and A grades achieved at both IGCSE and GCE A-level were higher than results from last year. He added, “We are delighted by the exam results this year. The grades are a testament to the hard work and collaborative efforts of the students, teachers, GIS management and parents. The exceptional grades will further advance our students wherever they find themselves in the world.” The Principal of GIS, Mrs Diana Nyatepe-Coo added, “GIS is constantly striving to maintain our high academic standards. We are pleased with this year’s results and I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate the staff, parents and students for these wonderful outcomes.” Ghana International School is more than fifty-five years-old and has a strong history of academic excellence and developing future citizens of the world. Thanks to the high grades achieved at the school, many pupils continue to win multi-thousand dollar scholarships at top universities around the world. This year, students were accepted to 74 universities in the USA, 30 in the UK, 11 in Canada, and three in Ghana. A total sum of US$1, 645,468.00 and CND$55,000 of financial aid was awarded to the students. This new academic year, two hundred teenagers have started the IGCSE and GCE A-level programmes.
