President Akufo-Addo says he was always truthful during his campaign in his quest to become the leader of the country.
According to him, one of the most significant decisions Ghanaians will make in this generation is the choice they will make in the forthcoming general elections in December.
Speaking at the inauguration of the newly constructed bridge at Afoa in Bantama, the President asserted that it is the responsibility of a political party to find ways to persuade voters.
"We have the responsibility to find a way to persuade the Ghanaian people to make the right choice,” he noted.
The President also highlighted his campaign in response to allegations made by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), stressing that he was elected based on facts, not falsehoods.
“He is saying that I came to power in 2016 by telling lies to the Ghanaian people. Where are the lies I told? Was ‘Dumsor’ my making? Did I lie about ‘Dumsor’? Did I lie about the 3.4% sluggish growth rate in Ghana at the time? Did I lie about the rate of inflation or the joblessness that created graduate unemployment? Were all these lies?” he questioned.
He continued to emphasise that all the allegations he levelled against the NDC’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, were based on hard facts. Therefore, if Mahama seeks to redeem himself from these accusations, he should find another explanation.
“But if he is trying to find a way to excuse himself for his abysmal failure in 2016, he should find another thing, another story to tell,” he concluded.
