Former Ghana international, Michael Essien, says he has no plans of becoming a head coach despite being in the profession.
Essien, after his retirement, has been working with Nordsjaelland since 2020, where he serves as an Individual Player Coach, helping nurture the next generation of football talent.
The 41-year-old, despite his involvement in the development of players, has revealed he has no intentions of leading a team on his own.
According to him, the role is demanding and he prefers to stay away from attention. However, he didn't rule out a change of mind.
"For now, I am not thinking about being a head coach; it is too stressful. I like to be behind the scenes, away from these media duties and cameras in my face. But you never know; maybe at some point," he told Joy Sports in an exclusive interview.
"I’ve been to many places, top clubs and everything, but the Nordsjaelland organisation is second to none.
"I want to help take the football of young Nordsjaelland players to a different level. They need some guidance, and seeing me around gives them something to learn."
Essien made 59 appearances for the Black Stars during his playing career which was plagued by injuries and managed nine goals in that period.
