Ace lawyer, Nana Asante Bediatuo takes a swipe at his critics especially members of the ruling National Democratic Congress [NDC] for always tagging him as a member of the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP] and always expressing opinions inclined to favor the NPP.
Speaking on Multi Tv’s current affairs programme, pm:EXPRESS, Tuesday Night, Nana Asante Bediatuo explained that although he is not a member of the NPP, the NPP will certainly be a choice party for him should he decide to join any political party.
According to him, he is not a member of the NPP as some critics have made it look like adding that he is an individual who expresses his opinion on national issues independently.
Nana Asante Bediatuo, Prof. Agyeman Badu Akorsa, Lawyer Chris Ackumey and Abu Ramadan of pressure group AFAG, locked horns on pm: Express in a discussion on whether a public inquest should be held into the circumstances leading to the death of Prof. Mills
While, member of the NDC legal team, Chris Ackumey pinned down the discussion to legislation, arguing that no law mandates such public disclosure, the rest of the panelists shared a different view. Nana Bediatuo maintained that the health of the president was an important thing for all Ghanaians, whether they were NPP or not.
Pressure Group Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), has called for a public inquiry into the circumstances leading to the death of the late President Prof. John Evans Atta Mills. Ghana Medical Association and former IGP Patrick Acheampong have all made similar demands.
AFAG, among other reasons cites several inconsistencies in the time of death, mode of transporting the late President from the Castle to 37 Military Hospital as a basis for a public inquest to put the matter to rest.
But, according to Chris Ackumey, these demands are petty, although he supports calls for an open discussion on the medical emergency response readiness of the presidential fleet and Ghana’s health system in general.
