The Chief of Sekyedumase in the Ashanti Region, Nana Antwi Boasiako II, has on behalf of the people of Sekyeredumase petitioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Running mate for election 2024, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh to intervene and settle a land dispute between a son of the land, George Osei Bonsu, and a member of the family of the Second Lady.
In a petition to Dr Opoku Prempeh popularly known as NAPO during a campaign tour of the area, the Chief expressed the displeasure and disappointment of the community over the incident which occurred on April 27 in Accra.
He thus appealed to Dr Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo to ensure that Mr Osei Bonsu is duly compensated for the destruction of his ten buildings.

“The entire Sekyedumase was in a state of mourning when the news broke to us, most importantly when it was between the family of the 2nd lady and our son who both are strong members of the New patriotic party.”
According to the Chief, the youth of the area had planned to demonstrate to express their displeasure but for the timely intervention of the traditional council of Sekyedumase.
“Mr vice President-to-be, all we are asking you to do for Nananom and the Sekyedumase people is to intervene for a fair judgment and possible compensation for the people of Sekyedumase to be at peace with the party."
He continued, “George Oti Bonsu is one of the few citizens of our land who supports the town’s development and he is always keeping the Sekyedumase NPP active. Kindly help us keep the smile on the face of our people again.
In July, a group of New Patriotic Party (NPP) members calling itself the Coalition of Concerned Members of NPP, also petitioned the national headquarters of the governing New Patriotic Party and the presidency among others to settle the land dispute between Mr George Oti Bonsu and Abu Ramadan, a relative of the Second Lady of Ghana, Samira Bawumia that led to the demolition of the property.

The group described Mr Oti Bonsu as a party financier, reminding the party that at such a crucial time with elections a few months away, “every party member's intellectual, financial, physical, and logistical support is required to retain power.”
In throwing more light on the supposed dispute between the two men, the group said that in the early hours of Sunday, 7th April 2024, a massive demolition exercise was carried out on ten houses located at Adjiringanor near East Legon in Accra ostensibly belonging to Mr George Oti Bonsu, “one of the highly esteemed financiers of the New Patriotic Party's activities.”

According to the group, at a press conference held at the demolition site on 24th April 2024 by some sympathizers of the NPP, Mr George Oti Bonsu alleged that the demolition exercise was carried out by the family of the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, a claim the Second Lady's office has since debunked.
In the group's letter, it claimed that “Mr George Oti Bonsu concluded his statement by clarifying that the ten houses that were brought down to complete rubble cost him 3.5 million US Dollars to build.”
