The Member of Parliament for Tamale Central constituency, Mr. Inusah Fuseini, has taken a swipe at a cross section of the media for "allowing their parochial interest to conflict with the ethics of the journalism profession". He condemned the actions of some journalists in Ghana for engaging in speculative journalism and challenged such persons to carry factual reportage that will promote Ghana's trade mark as the gate way to Africa. Mr. Fuseini made these remarks in a sharp response to an Accra based radio station's report that he was shot at Changli, one of the identified flash points in the Tamale metropolis. The Tamale Central MP.said the report was a figment of somebody's imagination aimed at maligning him despite his immeasurable contribution to the restoration of peace in Dagbon over the years. Mr Fuseini, however, commended the media in general, for playing its responsive role in nurturing Ghana's democratic dispensation and urged journalists in the country to concentrate on setting the right agenda that will encourage government and her development partners' quest to move the nation forward but in the right direction. Addressing a well attended rally later at Changli where he was reported to have been shot, the Tamale Central MP thanked his constituents for voting massively for the NDC at the last elections. He assured particularly the youth of government's commitment to create more job opportunities to make them productive citizens. Mr. Fuseini disclosed that he spent GH¢10,000 last year as part of his bid to sponsor needy but brilliant students in his constituency to acquire higher academic laurels. The Tamale Central MP reiterated government's commitment to rejuvenate Acheampong's 'Operation Feed Yourself' concept and announced that thousands of tractors and combined harvesters had been imported into Ghana to boost the agricultural sector. He also appealed to party loyalists to put a stop to what he referred to as 'the pull him down syndrome' and rather concentrate on building the frontiers of the NDC to ,retain power come the 2012 elections. Mr. Seidu Karim, chairman of Changli NDC Youth Association, commended the MP for fulfilling some of his campaign promises and assured him of their unflinching support to enable him complete his development agenda.
