Mr Justice Dzisenu Botse, President of University of Education Winneba branch of National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has observed that investment in education must impact positively on national development.
He said education should result in direct human resource development and skills for the country's development.
Mr Botse made the observation at a day's workshop on Students' Loan Trust for first year students of the university at Winneba.
He said the Trust was established to support students and help alleviate financial problems but some problems associated with it include requirements for beneficiaries to have SSNIT contributors as guarantors.
Mr Botse said most students could not access the SSNIT Loan Scheme because they could not secure guarantors and called for a review of the Trust to enable most students benefit from it.
Miss Ruby Lamptey, SLTF Zonal Co-ordinator in Winneba, said the Trust was to replace the SSNIT Loans Scheme and assist students but unfortunately most students failed to benefit because they failed to provide the appropriate information and the delays associated with disbursement.
