The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has designed and developed a software to assist tax payers in the compilation of their income tax returns.
Christened "IRS Tax Helper", the software has minimum compliance cost to the tax payer, convenient in complying with obligations and would respond rapidly to their requests for documentation that facilitates their businesses.
It would also help tax administrators to control the processes and machinery in optimizing revenue from income tax and increase the quality of service to tax payers by reducing the time of processing the returns.
During a workshop to introduce the new software to employers and related institutions at Wa, Mr Patrick Danso, a resource person, said it had been observed that Pay As You Earn (PAYE) returns are often wrongly computed as a result of application of wrong tax rates.
He said the new system would, apart from easing the difficulties of tax payers associated with the compilation of income tax returns, also eliminate delays in the filing of these returns.
Mr Danso noted that the software was developed with support from development partners as part of the National Medium Term Private Sector Development Strategy (PSDS) which was launched in 2004 to provide support to IRS and other ministries, departments and agencies.
