The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is broke after 18 months in opposition, making it extremely difficult for the party's National Executive Committee to manage its affairs, according to a report by the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
The agency says its investigations have revealed that NPP chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, has been compelled to mortgage his house to raise the needed funds to pay salaries of workers and provide logistics to run the administration and to organise the National Delegates Congress scheduled for August 7 to elect its flagbearer.
When contacted, party chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey simply said “no comment”.
