Black Stars goalkeeper, Stephen Adams has defended his antics on the pitch during the Guinea encounter, saying it was the team's game plan to slow the Guineans down.
The 25-year-old has come under severe criticism for the antics he displayed in the goal post during the 3-1 win at the packed Tamale stadium on Wednesday.
The Aduana Stars shot-stopper employed what many have labeled as outmoded tactics to delay the game to the displeasure of many local fans.
But the current number one goalie of the Black Stars says the decision to slow things down was made by the entire team and he was just playing his part.
"I am sorry for what many fans thought was my personal and unprofessional antics to delay play with more than 20 minutes of play remaining. With my maturity now after the World Cup I can't do that, It was the entire team's decision I spearhead, this is due to the late equalizer we suffered in Casablanca.
''The Guineans were faster and piled pressure in the dying minutes of play and if we didn't delay play and use counter attacks they were going to equalize as they did in Casablanca. But to all Ghanaians I'm sorry for this act if it was wrongly administered," he added.
The Aduana goalkeeper was Ghana's third choice at the World Cup in Brazil but has risen to the number one position by overtaking Fatau Dauda and Adam Kwarasey and hopes to maintain the spot with support from Ghanaians in future matches.
