The chiefs and people of Kokoa, Buni, Gyinanko, Duadaso (No. 1 & 2) all in the Jaman North District of the Brong Ahafo Region are furious with the politicians for successively cheating them. They have therefore warned government officials against stepping their feet into these communities during the election period to campaign. According to them, the major problems confronting their communities are electricity and bad roads leading to their communities. Due to this, the communities and the district assembly agreed on a Self-Help Electrification Project in the year 2000. The chiefs told Asempa News that under the arrangement, communities were to pay 50% of the cost involved in the electricity supply to the communities and an amount of GHS3,600.00 was made available to the assembly. They said the communities have made good part of the deal since the year 2000, leaving the Assembly to play its part. Nana Tan Kwaku Ababio of Gyinanko, Osabarima Nana Kaka Ahensa of Buni, Nana Kofie Abrafi of Dua Daso No. 1 and Nana Kwaku Ababio of Dua Daso No. 2, told Asempa News that they are disappointed in the Assembly. Meanwhile the District Chief Executive, Hajia Amina Amadu, could not tell immediately if there was any such agreement as the chiefs are claiming. She told Asempa News that the National Democratic Congress government was fighting hard to give the communities the electricity soon. Story: Kwaku Antwi-Otoo/Asempa News/Ghana
