Jeffrey Adu-Mante is among fifteen other young innovators set to represent Ghana at the 2024 Next Generation Digital Action (NGDA) competition in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The innovators, primarily students from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), will showcase their cutting-edge solutions to real-world challenges at the global event later this month.

The teams - Mfasoᴐ, LJJM, and Quad-Inno - each developed innovative digital solutions aimed at addressing challenges in water management, education accessibility, and sustainability, which they will present at the summit in Copenhagen.

Speaking to the media, one of the innovators, Mr. Jeffrey Adu-Mante, explained that their journey has been one of intense preparation, from brainstorming innovative ideas to refining their solutions through rigorous practice and feedback sessions.

He highlighted the team's confidence in their projects, which address critical issues such as water management, education, and sustainability.

“We’re not just representing ourselves but the whole of Ghana. Our innovations are rooted in solving problems that we face back home, and we believe these solutions can be scaled globally.”

“We’ve spent months developing these solutions, and we’re confident that they have the potential to make a significant impact. This is a chance to show how young Ghanaian talent can contribute to solving global issues, from education and water management to sustainability and technology. We are ready, and we’re bringing our best,” Mr. Adu-Mante.

The Next Generation Digital Action is a global youth initiative part of Digital Tech Summit 2024 to enable diverse youth-led ideas, perspectives, and action on digital technologies transforming societies - leaving no one behind.

It is the largest academic-based technology and business event in the Nordic countries, bringing together over 5,000 decision-makers, engineers, companies, academia, startups, investors, and students, redefining tech leadership as the digital sustainable tech transformation in industry and society.

Ahead of the departure to Copenhegan, the teams presented their solutions in a test pitch at a special meeting with the Danish Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Tom Nørring. This pitch served as a prelude to the upcoming summit, allowing the teams to receive further feedback and refine their presentations.

Mr. Nørring commended the innovators for their efforts and underscored the long-standing partnership between Denmark and Ghana in various sectors, including health, agriculture, and digitalisation.

During the session, Team Mfasoᴐ, led by Michelle Sosu, presented ‘Spaar,’ a smart water infrastructure software that optimises water and sanitation systems using AI.

Also, Team LJJM, led by Margaret Patterson, showcased ‘Adesua Pa,’ a web application designed to close educational gaps by offering accessible and up-to-date information on schools in Ghana.

Calvin Opoku’s team, Quad-Inno, demonstrated ‘Opretholde,’ a web-based tool that automates sustainability data management.

Last year’s competition winners, the Green Crew, also made an appearance. They highlighted their project, ‘Abusua Fie,’ an eco-friendly family home that blends sustainable construction materials with modern and traditional Ghanaian lifestyles.

The 2024 NGDA competition offers a platform for young innovators from around the world to showcase their solutions, with a focus on harnessing digital tools for sustainable development.

The Ghanaian teams are hopeful that their innovations will stand out and pave the way for future collaborations in technology and innovation.
