Mr Johnny Hansen, a veteran politician and lawyer, is dead, according to a statement issued by the Convention People's Party (CPP) on Tuesday.
It said Mr Hansen, a staunch Nkrumaist and a leading member of the CPP, died peacefully in his sleep in Accra on Thursday, August 13. He was at one time the Secretary of the Interior of the erstwhile PNDC. He was the Third National Vice Chairman of the CPP between 2003 and 2007.
He unsuccessfully contested the flagbearership of the CPP in 2000. The statement said funeral arrangements would be announced later.
