Joy FM has distributed some 2,000 bags of sachet water to victims of Wednesday's twin fire and flood disaster.

The water was donated by the Mobile Water company as part of efforts to meet the immediate needs of the victims.

Over 150 lives have been lost to the disaster. But survivors, the injured and victims who lost everything are more.

Some of the victims are crying for relief items, including food and water.

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has been distributing blankets, cups and other materials to the victims but they are complaining of thirst and hunger.

On Saturday, the super station met some of the needs of the victims with the distribution of water.

The station as part of its social responsibility is appealing to  listeners to donate any item, ie used clothes, shoes, money, food etc to the victims.

The station will Sunday set up at Circle, the epicenter of the disaster, receive the items and distribute immediately to the victims.Joy FM, Mobile Water donate 2,000 bags of sachet water to disaster victims

Joy FM is partnering with the Ghana Medical Association, the Ghana Registered Nurses Association, the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana, the Association of Ghana Industries, the Universal Merchant Bank and Lutheran media to execute this massive relief effort.

The team will converge at the PTC building Sunday from where it will move to the Africa House near the Kwame Nkrumah Circle which is opposite the burnt the burnt Goil Filling Station, at 12pm.

Items needed to bring relief to the people are: sore dressing items, medical supplies, toiletries, soap and detergents, clothing food, water, footwear.

Authorities at the KorleBu Teaching Hospital say the victims at the burns centre who survived the explosion are particularly needy.

According to them, each victim needs to have his dressings changed every three days to prevent infections which can complicate the recovery process.

Each dressing costs 500 cedis which means a patient needs 500 cedis every three days to change their dressing alone.
