Kantamanto traders have once again vowed to go ahead in putting up wooden structures to enable them sell their goods.This vow comes a day after the Accra Metropolitan Assembly(AMA) embarked on a demolition exercise at the market. The exercise was carried out by the AMA in the early hours of Sunday.Some traders said it was carried out by some young men who are claiming money from them before returning the structures.But the traders have insisted the demolition exercise was a breach of agreement by the AMA.“They gave us the chance to sell in the meantime. They promised us that whenever they are planning to build they will give us three months’ notice,” one trader revealed.According to the traders, the Assembly agreed after they alerted the AMA of the need to put up temporary structures in view of the impending rainfall season.The traders also argued that they are impelled by the rains to put up the structures needed to “sell something small”.Attempts to get the AMA on this issue have still proved futile.
