The Burns Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital has taken delivery of three sets of Patient Monitors for the Unit.
The monitors, worth about $5,000 each, were presented to the hospital by the Rotary Club of Kumasi to facilitate healthcare delivery.
President of the Club, John Akoto Inkum, says the gesture to support the health facility stems from the dedication of health officials at the Unit to keep patients alive.
A Patient Monitor is an electronic device that provides and records vital signs of patients for medical professionals.
“We have adopted the Burns Unit so we come here every year to donate materials and equipment that it needs,” Mr John Akoto Inkum revealed.
Mrs Patience Ampong who took delivery of the items on behalf of the hospital was excited about the gesture by the social club.
He said the device will facilitate the work of the Unit.
“We realised that the special emergency unit takes about four patients whiles the other side has six beds which we think it is insufficient and something can be done about it,” Mr Inkum said.
He revealed the Club's plan to build an accommodation facility for KATH patients.
“We don’t pray for accidents to happen but if the unforeseen happens they [KATH] will get some place to accommodate more patients,” he said about the facility.
