Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra in collaboration with the National Folklore Board has welcomed the Essence Full Circle Group with grand durbar.
The group on Friday, December 27, 2019, was met with drumming and dancing by the Africana Dance Ensemble at the entrance of the hotel to officially welcome them home.
The Ghanaian-American actor, Boris Kodjoe and other A-listers were in the country to experience the Essence Full Circle Festival in celebration of the historic anniversary 'Year of Return'.

It has been exactly 400 years since the first black slaves landed in Jamestown Virginia in the US.
Ghana initiated the Year of Return to invite all diasporans back home to not only learn more but explore and even invest in the country.
Since this initiative began many African Americans have made their way into the country to learn more about their history.
The Essence Full Circle Festival, therefore, is to support cultural ownership and economic collaboration among Africans on the continent and people of African descent in the Diaspora.
And also connect Black communities globally for the exchange of ideas and shared objectives that lead to cultural monetization and community reinvestment; and to facilitate the learning and discovery of the many facets of Africa’s beauty, excellence and opportunity globally.
