Veteran broadcaster and former artiste manager, Ken Addy, has expressed worry over the possible extinction of live musical instruments in the programming of songs.
He made the statement on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z with Kwame Dadzie on the back of technology taking a greater part of music production in recent times.
“I am worried that there will come a time that [live] musical instruments will become absent from songs and I don’t want that to happen. Because there is nothing like going to watch a musician play music on an instrument and showing you how good he or she is. The pleasure is immense when you see people play their instruments with such dexterity,” he noted.
“I will miss that and I pray that we don’t get to a time when all the instruments will vanish and everything will be at the touch of a button from a computer or whatever,” he added.
The host of 'Ken's Music Mix' on Joy FM, however, admitted that every generation comes with its culture and that, it is not possible to go back for everything that happened in the past.
Karl Tufuoh, a broadcaster and pianist who also featured on the show intimated that playing real instruments feel better than synthesized versions on the computer.
He was rather hopeful that live musical instruments will still play a role in music production in the future.
Other guests on the show were music producer Fred Kyei Mensah, broadcaster Paul Ankrah and singer Bibie Brew.
Showbiz A-Z airs on Joy 99.7 FM on Saturdays from 2pm to 6pm.
