Ghana midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng was sent off as his Italian side AC Milan were beaten 2-0 by Juventus on Sunday.
Boateng was making a quicker-than-expected return from injury after three weeks on the sidelines because of a rib problem.
But a moment of indecision by the Ghanaian helped Juventus to remain unbeaten and move to the top of Italy’s Serie A.
Following more than 85 minutes of scoreless action, Marchisio broke the deadlock with just three minutes left in normal time.
Milan’s misery was compounded in the 89th minute when Kevin-Prince Boateng was dismissed following a second yellow card for hitting Giorgio Chiellini.
Boateng then received his marching-off orders for a second bookable offence.
Then, in the third minute of stoppage time, Marchisio completed his double with a long-range volley which somehow slipped through Abbiati’s grasp and into the net.
