After a nearly decade-long hiatus, Ghanaian Afrobeat and Highlife sensation King Shyron has roared back onto the scene with his powerhouse comeback single “Atanfo”, featuring longtime collaborator Stay Jay.
The track, a fiery blend of mature lyricism, infectious rhythms, and unapologetic energy, marks a triumphant new era for the artist born Richard Atibila.
Hailing from the tight-knit community of Pwaulugu in Ghana’s Upper East Region, King Shyron’s journey began in 1998 as a young student at Pwaulugu Junior Secondary School.
Performing initially under the moniker Koone, his raw talent turned heads early on.
A pivotal moment came when he crossed paths with the late Ghanaian music icon Terry Bonchaka in Nungua, who bestowed upon him the regal stage name King Shyron – a nod to his leadership and resilience in the industry.

Relocating to Tema, the pulsating hub of Ghana’s urban music culture, King Shyron honed his craft and built an impressive resume.
Nonetheless, his versatility shines through fusions of Afrobeat, Highlife, Dancehall, and Afro-pop, earning collaborations with heavyweights like the late Castro, Keche, Kofi Pee (also known as Kofi P), Pasie, Nhyiraba Kojo, and more.
Hits such as “Mepe” ft. Castro, “No Flashing” ft. Stay Jay, “Go Down Low” ft. Keche, and “Sexy Lady” ft. Kofi Pee became staples, celebrating love, motivation, and everyday Ghanaian life with catchy hooks and storytelling depth.
In 2016, King Shyron stepped away from the spotlight to learn a trade and gain life experience, a move that he says refined his artistry and worldview.
“This break wasn’t an end… it was fuel,” the artist shared in a recent statement.
“I’ve returned with stories to tell and beats that hit harder.”
“Atanfo”, his eighth official single, is a testament to that evolution. Teaming up once again with Stay Jay, the song delivers an anthem of defiance and triumph, layered over Afrobeat grooves that demand dance floors worldwide.
Fans are already buzzing, with early streams highlighting its potential to dominate playlists across Africa and beyond.
Representing Tema with unwavering pride, King Shyron’s vision extends far: inspiring emerging artists, uplifting fans, and bridging African sounds to global audiences.
“Music is my legacy,” he said. “Timeless hits, real lyrics, authentic rhythms – that’s the King Shyron promise.”
The single “Atanfo” Ft. Stay Jay is available now on all major streaming platforms.
