Ghanaian broadcaster Kofi Okyere-Darko has hinted at producing and releasing a music album before he turns 50 years old.
In an interview on Joy Prime’s Changes show, he told Roselyn Felli that music has always been his interest, and he has helped to birth talents who are excelling in the industry.
“I bring the music out of other people. It’s in my head, but they can’t come out of me. So, I bring it out of other people, and I’ve had a great time over the years in the music space; it’s one of the greatest times for me, and we’re looking at getting back there. I got a call from Nana Kwame asking that we do one last album together.”
However, he has not been able to create his own music because he claims his voice is not the best for singing
Amidst his situation, music producer Kwame Yeboah requested that KOD produce an album before turning 50, which they are currently working on.
“Kwame Yeboah actually told me that I have till age 50 to record my album; otherwise, I’m done, and he’s the one producing the album. I’m 46 now, so I have 4 years to go.”
Asked if he will be able to fulfil it, he said, “Definitely,” adding that “it’s going to be an eclectic album.”
KOD revealed that the album will capture all genres of music in Ghana, including highlife and gospel. He explained that he developed a strategy of creating all genres of songs with all the musicians he has worked with, which has landed them into many award nominations.
He noted that every musician who aims to break through and reach greater heights should explore other genres instead of limiting themselves to just one
“…we always recorded different genres. We didn’t box ourselves into maybe highlife, and I think for every musician, if you’re truly talented and you can really go places like a Samini, King Promise, or Sarkodie, you don’t stay in one spot; you explore different arenas, and they keep you going,” he noted on Joy Prime.
