Former Member of Parliament for Asokwa in the Ashanti region, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has been released on a police enquiry bail after he was arrested by the police in the Ashanti Regional police criminal investigations department.
The former Asokwa MP was bailed by the NPP’s Ashanti regional secretary Samuel Pyne.
Mr Jumah is accused of ordering his bodyguards to physically assault a man he suspected to have stolen a mobile phone.
The victim, believed to be in his 40s, suffered severe bruises and lacerations on the body.
The former MP is expected to report at the police station on Tuesday.
