The Board Chairman of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Professor Andrews Seth Aryeetey, has relinquished his post following a never-ending boardroom power struggle with the CEO, Prof. Nii Otu Nartey.
He is reported to have tendered in his resignation letter to the President of Ghana, John Evans Atta Mills on Wednesday.
The new Minister of Health, Alban Bagbin, has called for the dissolution of the board, which is fractured as a result of the internal wrangling.
Months of internal strife has affected the daily running of the premier hospital and the resignation of the board chair could give credence to Mr. Bagbin’s suggestion to reconstitute it in order to save the situation.
