Hearts dropped down the Ghana league table after a much hyped clash with Kotoko turned into a feisty contest with seven yellow cards shown. It ended 0-0 in Accra. The match marked the fiftieth time both sides had met in the capital for a league game since 1958, and by the end of the tie both sides showed why majority of the results recorded in that time (21) have been draws."An away draw against Hearts at this time is a win," said Kotoko boss Max Konadu. His winger, Michael Anaba, also echoed the sentiment. "I think it is a great result considering the circumstances. You know we all did not get plenty chances."Hearts’ Serbian coach Nebojsa Vucicevic had returned from his homeland after burying his late father and allowed his assistant Shaibu Tanku to speak to the press."We could have won the game, yes. But Kotoko also came close and played well and must be given credit. We had our good chances we should have taken."Referee Awal Mohammed could have easily dished out ten yellow cards in a game of few chances and flying challenges. Uriah Asante was an early victim, as he was stretchered off in the first half following three successive challenges from the reds. However some football was played, too. Douglas Nkrumah and Yahaya Mohammed both hit the crossbars of their respective opponents in the second half.Ahmed Toure had two great chances to kill off Hearts in the first half and Nathaniel Asamoah was also guilty of pondering at a time he could have been more decisive. The defenses of both sides were resolute, with emphasis on wing play especially by Hearts in the second half.Yahaya Mohammed was imperious for Kotoko, but Isaac Ofori was a surprise star for Hearts as well. Abubakar Moro in defensive midfield for the Phobians was efficient, just as Michael Akuffo’s orchestration was on point as well. Both coaches knew they could have won with some more purposefulness but allowed for the fact that a point taken was probably better.
