Koforidua Technical University’s campus FM, KTU Radio, has been honoured for its outstanding participation in the 2025 World College Radio Day (WCRD) 24-Hour live broadcast marathon held on October 3, 2025.
KTU Radio received the ‘Audience Choice Award’ for attracting the highest live listenership during the global marathon.
The World College Radio Day Organising Committee announced the excellence award on November 17, 2025.
KTU Radio was the only campus radio in Africa that participated in the 2025 WCRD Global Marathon.
The 2025 World College Radio Day was marked with the theme ‘Tune In to the People’.
The annual celebration is observed on the first Friday in October to create international awareness of the importance of college/campus radio in education and community building.
More than 50 campus radio stations participated in the 2025 WCRD 24-Hour Global Marathon.
Commenting on the award, KTU Radio Manager Daniel Ofosu (also known as Kasatintin) said, "It is an honour for KTU Radio to be recognised on the global stage. The radio station’s success story feeds into Koforidua Technical University’s mission of sharing its research and innovation with the global community.
"The university FM must be supported in every way to achieve more," Mr Ofosu stressed. "The best things happen on campus radio. It is a powerful medium where young people or students are given the opportunity to express themselves, connect with their peers, and are empowered to make a positive impact in the community through media".
"Campus radio serves as a fertile platform where raw talents are discovered, nurtured and equipped with the professional knowledge to enhance their career in journalism and other fields." he added.
KTU Radio has consistently demonstrated professionalism and maintained its reputation as the premium urban campus radio station in Ghana. It was adjudged ‘Campus Radio Station of the Year’ at the TECH Eminence Awards in 2022.
