A suspected armed robber was Saturday night shot dead in Kumasi when he engaged a police and military patrol team in a shootout.
The deceased Kwaku Asante is believed to be a member of a notorious armed robbery gang in the city.
Three other members of the gang, Kojo Isaac,34, Nicholas Amoah, 20, and Peter Woraye, 20, who were arrested in the swoop are assisting the police in their investigation.
According to the police, the patrol team raided the hideout of the gang upon a tip-off but the robbers opened fire upon seeing the security officers.
The Deputy Public Relations Manager at the Ashanti Regional Police Command, Corporal Gordon Ahianyo told Joy News they need the cooperation of civilians to be able to apprehend societal miscreants who have taken it upon themselves to terrorize residents.
