The Kwabre East District Assembly has drafted a bye-law to regulate the activities of video games and snooker (pools) operators in the District.
The move is to reduce the high spate of truancy in the area which is affecting the education of the youth in that locality.
Excerpts from the draft indicate that children shall not be allowed to patronise such game centres during school sessions but will have two hours playing time (4pm-6pm).
Prospective operators of the games will have to seek the consent of the chief, Assemblyman or Assemblywoman and the Unit Committee of the area, for a permit to be issued before operation starts.
Penalties for contravention of the bye-laws include fines and imprisonment.
