The Member of Parliament for Obuasi West, Kwaku Kwarteng, says the remarkable achievement of the NPP (New Patriotic Party) in the last eight years put it in a better position to retain power in the December general elections.
He, however, pointed out that, this could be achieved if party members and supporters continued to work hard in unity to confront the task ahead.
Speaking at the launch of the party’s constituency campaign, he said the party needed unity and teamwork to break the eight-year rule cycle.
The campaign launch coincided with the unveiling of a formidable team made up of party executives to lead the campaign activities in the constituency.
Mr Kwarteng said the NPP had delivered on its campaign promises and needed to get another chance to continue with the transformation agenda of the country.
"We have delivered on our promises to the good people of Obuasi. We have not reneged on our promises.
“We all know the state of Obuasi we came to meet and the level of development Obuasi has seen now," the Obuasi West MP said.
He mentioned the comeback of AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) in 2019 after the company had declared care and maintenance in 2014, as a promise the party fulfilled when it was initially voted into power in 2016.
Mr Kwarteng pointed out that, the economy of Obuasi collapsed when AGA went down but through the intervention of the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, AGA was revived, and this had helped in giving more lifeline to the Obuasi economy, including creating more jobs.
He also mentioned projects such as the Obuasi Trauma Hospital, the Anwiankwanta to Obuasi Road, the Obuasi internal roads, the construction of the Obuasi children's park, KNUST-Obuasi campus project and others, as key projects the government had embarked on in Obuasi, stressing that, the government needed overwhelming endorsement from the people of Obuasi to continue with the good works.
According to Mr. Kwarteng, Obuasi would continue to see massive development in his next term judging from the work he had done so far and mentioned several road projects in the area to be done.
These include the New Biakoye Road, Kunka Internal Roads, Estate Road and Sanso Internal Roads.

He also mentioned the establishment of a fully-fledged technical university in Obuasi, the establishment of the Obuasi industrial park and railway development, as key projects to be expected when his mandate was renewed in the 2024 general elections.
The former Deputy Minister of Finance appealed to party members to vote massively for the New Patriotic Party's presidential candidate Dr Mahamoud Bawumia to continue the legacy of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.
He charged party supporters to go to the nook and crannies of the constituency and sell the good works of the New Patriotic Party and the good message of the party.
