New Black Stars coach has called on the Ghana Football Association to have confidence in local coaches.
Kwesi Appiah was re-appointed by the football governing body in the country three years after he was shown the exit.
After a poor end to Avram Grant’s reign which saw Ghana place fourth at the AFCON and five points behind Egypt in the World Cup qualifiers, the hope put in foreign coaches might have diminished.
And Appiah believes total support for his fellow compatriots could be the way to go for Ghana football.
“As a nation, the most important thing is for the leaders or the Football Association to have confidence in the local Coaches.” He told the BBC.
“I believe there are lots of local Coaches who are competent and good enough and so if they (GFA) believe in local Coaches I don’t think there will be the need to go in for a foreign coach.”
Kwesi Appiah will officially begin work on May 1.
