The council has directed "All people, Churches, Mosques, hotels, eateries and business and social concerns" within these zones to adhere strictly to the ban. Violators will face traditional sanctions, with authorities warning of strict enforcement.
The Homowo Festival, a key Ga tradition, marks the end of a historic famine and celebrates abundance. The noise ban, a long-standing custom, ensures the spiritual and cultural observances proceed undisturbed.
Extending goodwill to residents, the La State Council stated, "Niimei wish the people of La and all residents of the La Traditional Area a peaceful and successful Homowo Celebration."
With the ban affecting major commercial, residential, and diplomatic areas—including Cantonments and Flagstaff House Area—the collaborating municipal assemblies are urging full compliance to balance tradition with minimal disruption to daily activities.
