A 40-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl at Nima in Accra.
The man, in whose house the victim and her parents live, is reported to have been sleeping with the girl for about a year now.
A non-governmental organisation, Perfector of Sentiments Foundation whose attention was drawn to the girl’s plight led the victim’s family to the Nima Police where investigations are currently ongoing.
Speaking to Adom FM’s Kofi Adoma on Tuesday, the victim’s mother said she was alerted by a neighbour who had interrogated the victim upon hearing that someone in the house had been fondling her breast.
According to the mother of the victim, her daughter said she was afraid to tell her about the incident because she thought the mother would beat her up, adding that the alleged rapist had also threatened to kill the girl, dump her in front of the mother’s porch and ensure she is arrested for murder should she tell anybody about it.
Meanwhile, medical reports indicate that someone has been sleeping with the victim for some time now.
