The Board of the Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission (PCSRC), on Tuesday assured Ghana Post and other courier operators that the Commission would initiate strategic policies to ensure effective mailing service delivery in the country.
Osabarima Ansah Sasraku III, Chairman of the Board, gave the assurance when the newly appointed Board members of PCSR paid a familiarization tour to Ghana Post, DHL and Fedex, the key operators of courier services in Ghana.
It was to enable the members find ways of addressing challenges facing the companies to help improve service delivery.
Osabarima Sasraku said the PCSRC would enforce laws to eliminate the proliferation of courier operators and check other malpractices in the mailing system.
Mr Nicholas Dery, Acting Managing Director of Ghana Post, said that the manual form of mail delivery had over the years slowed down productivity, expressing the hope that the Commission would collaborate with management to improve upon the system.
He appealed to the PCSRC to initiate training programmes to upgrade the knowledge of personnel at various departments to improve upon quality service delivery.
Mr Reid Wiles, Area Operations Manager of DHL Ghana Limited, called on the Commission to regulate the activities of other courier companies operating without license.
Paul K. Tanoe, Chief Executive Officer of Fedex, added the volcanic ashes that had engulfed the skies in Europe had affected its operations in European countries due to the suspension of flight.
He said Fedex had adopted other measures to curtail any unforeseen challenge.
