Ghana premier league side Liberty Professionals have done away with the services of head coach J. E. Sarpong, citing financial constraints.
Sarpong joined the Dansoman-based side last season, lifting them from a relegation-threatened 14th position to finish 8th.
He claims there is no bad blood between him and the management of the team.
“I didn’t say I am not going to be with Liberty Professionals, they asked me not to be with them and I have accepted that decision in good faith.
“The chairman called and told me he has no money and he can’t carry on with many technical men. I have to accept it because the team belongs to him.”
Meanwhile, former coach of the Black Satellites who guided Ghana to win the Africa and world youth championships in 2009, Sellas Tetteh is set to take over as head coach of Liberty Professionals.
