Your beauty alone doesn’t matter. Of course you know that. Beauty is nicely coloured petals but these 10 things are the real nectar. Men may hover like flies if you have a Miss World figure but if you want a Mrs. and a ring - pay rapt attention.

Men are doomed to be dominated by their eyes so yes - the size of their bra, the gloss of your face can be an asset. But even in their fatal attraction to good looks, there is a key period when a man's thinking cap returns to him when the serious business of settling down arises.

All of a sudden and whether you like it or not, these non-physical things stated below are the real reasons guys give for falling in love with you enough for that altar...yes, the real reasons.

1.A good listener

I am certain this is the umpteenth time you’ve heard this and it probably sounds like a cliché now – I know – but this could pass for the number one quality any man (yeah and I mean any man) wants to see in his wife-to-be. Men appreciate women who simply listen, no interruptions, comments or anything that suggests what she will do better when she’s in his position. How about “okay love, anytime you’re ready or alright babe, when you’re ready to talk about it let me know (at least that is what a guy told me). Ladies, don’t forget that it takes men a longer time to process their problems before they voice it out to you so the last thing you want to do is to interrupt or turn yourself into a superwoman. A woman’s ability to listen, hear and understand what her partner says is absolutely essential. Men love this quality because it is a sign that you’re a supportive woman.  

2. A natural woman

Yes, natural women...don’t think too far. Like I said earlier, your looks don’t really matter so I’m definitely not talking about hair here – no. I am talking about a woman who is able to act on the spur of the moment. A woman who is spontaneous or extempore will certainly catch a guy’s eye. You’d have to bring heaven down on earth if you want your guy to sing for you but singing – no matter how horrible your voice is – or dancing around regardless of how terrible you are at it will get your man to love you. Men love women who are just themselves.

3. A well educated and comfortable woman

It’s been proven (not scientific though) that women who enjoy and love what they do are extremely attractive. This means that no matter where you are or what you do, once you start loving it and doing it to the best of your abilities, you’re likely to get hutched soon. I have said it already that it is not about your beauty, the school you attended of which blue chip company you work with, it is about loving who you are, being positive and rocking it in your own little corner. If you’re happy and in love with yourself finding someone who loves you for you, will not be too difficult.

4. A woman who knows how to cook and enjoys her food

It is said that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Ladies don’t kid yourselves into thinking that because we are in a modern world, not knowing how to cook is not a big deal. Trust me, it is a bigger deal if you desire to get married and even biggest if yo want to enjoy it “until death do us part”. Going to a restaurant every now and then, eating from a ‘proper’ chef and sharing your food experiences with your partner is good but you should be able to a meal on his table the day he decides he does not want to eat from a ‘proper’ chef. Men love women who can cook or women who are willing to learn how to cook for them. That’s when school or book knowledge does not matter at all – not in the least.

5. A woman who is ready to compromise

A man feels better when he knows that his lady is ready to confer and work hard to find solution to a problem that will suit both sides. So if you want your partner to love you, then learn how to compromise. We all agree that most men like the big boobies, long legs and all but all these are unimportant for those who want a long, happy and fulfilling relationship.

6. A woman who is caring

Undoubtedly! A man wants to know that you care for him but watch it though, it doesn’t mean you should say “I love you” every second. NO. It is said that the real man tells you he loves you once but demonstrates that love five times. This might not be enough for some women. However, it is advisable that you stick to this ‘man principle’. Listen to him when he needs to, mother him when he’s sick and of course buy him a gift once in a while but don’t lose sight of your role.

7. Strong woman

Another trait men love to see in women is strength, extreme courage and strength. Your man should be able to rely on you during certain times. Men love to know that their women are there for them when things start to take a down turn. You need to let him know that there is a solid rock he can rely on when his walls fall, someone he can count on at all times.

8. A woman who has a sense of humour

A woman with a good sense of humour will rock any man’s world – any day. Men want to be sure that the woman they finally settle with is not too rigid, she can take and make jokes when the need arises. They also want to be sure that their partner will find softer moments even during times when thing are extremely tough.

9. A woman who take care of herself

“I like a woman who takes good care of herself...I mean really good care”, that’s what Eric said when i asked him what he’d love to see in his wife to be. His response does not surprise me, not in the least because I also love men who take good care of themselves and are clean. Men love it when you spend all that money on your makeup, beauty products and all those body creams you dig into his bank account for. He loves it, totally! So pamper yourself (but watch his wallet while you’re at it), he loves you for that.

10. A woman with a motherly instinct

This is almost a must, especially for men who want to have children. Men love women who will take care of them – and in turn their children. I don’t know how you’re going to find it but if you’ve not got motherly instincts then find it.
