The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the 12th Edition of the Africa Hockey Federation (AfHF) Cup for Nations, has unveiled the official Logo for the tournament.
The tournament which spans from July 10 to July 18 is scheduled to come off at the National Hockey Stadium in Accra.
The Logo, which has a hockey ball and stick, with the national flag of Ghana and the continent’s map in one circle and with the slogan “Let’s Begin to Dream again”, was unveiled by Nii Quaye Kumah, Secretary- General of the Africa Hockey Federation (AHF) at a brief and colourful ceremony in Accra on Friday.
Mr. Abuga Pele, Chairman of the LOC said the Committee is determined to provide the nation with a successful championship as well as a lasting legacy for the nation.
He noted that the ongoing construction works at the National Hockey Stadium is evidence of the determination of government to build a solid foundation for the growth of the sport in Ghana.
Mr. Abuga Pele said the edifice, when completed will not only serve the present generation but the future as well.
The LOC Chairman also noted that the Committee is not only concerned with the construction of the stadium but also tasked to ensure that a formidable team is built for the competition.
Mr. Abuga Pele expressed the conviction that national hockey team, currently training in Holland, will make a strong presentation at the championship.
Mr. Magnus Rex Danquah, acting Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the LOC said the tournament presents the nation with another opportunity to dream again, as Ghana will soon boast of a modern water-base hockey pitch and a first class hockey stadium.
He was confident that Ghana will once again stage a successful continental show piece.Source: GNA
