Businessman Lord Ibrahim Sani has announced his intention to contest Ghana's presidency as an independent candidate, unveiling a new youth-led political movement known as the Rising Generation Movement (RGM).
The movement, which seeks to mobilise young people and grassroots communities across the country, is built on a mission to restore trust in leadership, empower the youth and build a Ghana that works for everyone through practical policies, clean governance and citizen-centred development.
Speaking during the online launch of the movement yesterday, Mr. Sani said Ghana's future depends on a new generation of leaders who are prepared to prioritise competence, accountability and service over partisan politics.
"The Rising Generation Movement is a call to action for young people and all Ghanaians who believe our country deserves a new direction founded on integrity, opportunity and inclusive growth," he said.
The businessman noted that although Ghana is rich in talent and potential, many citizens have become disillusioned by the political system and are seeking leadership that delivers tangible results rather than promises.
According to him, RGM will focus on job creation, entrepreneurship, education, technology, youth empowerment and economic transformation while building a nationwide grassroots network ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Mr. Sani said his decision to run as an independent presidential candidate reflects his belief that Ghana's development should transcend partisan interests and place the needs of citizens at the centre of governance.
The Rising Generation Movement will begin nationwide engagements in the coming months as it works to recruit members, develop policy proposals and expand its presence across the country.
