A KUMASI-based carpenter, who could not bear the pain of losing his lover to another man, is alleged to have butchered the woman with a machete at Fante New Town, Kumasi.
A few weeks before the gruesome murder, Sabina Amoh, a seamstress, was said to have separated from the boyfriend; whose name was given as Kofi Saul Campbell, but Sabina's pastor was said to have intervened for her to give the boyfriend a second chance.
When later Sabina heard a knock on her door, and opened it to find Campbell, little did she know that he had hatched a plan to kill her.
Relations of Sabina told the Daily Graphic that she responded to his call after opening the door at about 5 a.m. and the two moved out of the house for a brief discussion.
Moments later, Sabina's body was discovered in a pool of blood lying near a refuse dump close to the house with deep machete wounds on both ears and cheeks, with little life in her.
She was thus rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where she was pronounced dead.
The body has since been deposited at the mortuary, and the matter reported to the police.
Campbell, who was said to be a coffin maker at Fante New Town, near the Labour Office, where the incident happened, was yet to be apprehended by the police at the time of filing this report.
He is said to be a native of Enyan Maim, and Sabina is also a native of Mankessim, both in the Central Region.
Lydia Amoh, an elder sister of Sabina, said the two had been going out happily for the last two years until a misunderstanding ensued between them.
She said the matter was, however, reported to Sabina's pastor, who was trying to resolve the issue amicably.
From Koforidua Nana Konadu Agyeman also reports that a 35-year-old elder of the Pentecost Church at Akyem Maase in the Eastern Region, who inflicted severe machete wounds on her lover on his farm at Akyem Maase, has found himself in the grips of the law.
The accused, Emmanuel Tagbor, who is also a Sunday School teacher of the church, was said to have agreed to meet with Mary Owusu, 32, on his farm to give her GH¢55 on June 25, this year to abort a pregnancy she had conceived.
When the unemployed victim, who has four children with the accused, went to the farm at 2 p.m to demand the money, a quarrel ensued between them after Tagbor failed to honour his promise.
However, when the victim decided to leave the farm, the accused gradually followed and inflicted the deep machete wounds on her head, face, neck and arms and chopped off two of her fingers.
The victim, who was taken to the Koforidua Regional Hospital by the two brothers of the accused, is currently responding to treatment.
